Chemicals don't stand a chance: LOBA 2K Resist. Ideal for hygiene-sensitive areas, hair salons and car showrooms

When hair dye drips onto the floor, it usually spells disaster for finished surfaces. But it doesn’t have to be that way: with LOBA 2K Resist, professionals now have access to a water-based finish that stands out for its exceptional chemical resistance.

Designed for Demanding Applications

Whether in a hair salon, a car showroom, or a clinic – wherever chemical substances from hair dyes, rubber tyres, or surface disinfectants come into contact with coated surfaces, damage is often inevitable. Not so with 2K Resist, the new versatile polyurethane finish from LOBA. This semi-matt, water-based finish has been specially developed for environments with high chemical exposure. Thanks to its innovative formulation, the coating provides long-lasting protection for linoleum and PVC coverings, parquet and wooden floors, as well as mineral trowelled flooring, effectively protecting them from numerous chemicals – particularly household agents and plasticisers.

Thanks to its high mechanical resistance, 2K Resist is perfectly suited for a wide range of applications – from private interiors to public or commercial spaces, such as medical practices, cafés, or retail shops.

Strong Against Chemicals

The tested chemical resistance of 2K Resist according to DIN 68861-1 significantly exceeds the requirements of test group 1B. In this independent test, more than 20 substances are evaluated – including acetone, acetic acid, cleaning agents, ammonia, and red wine. Additionally, the finish is certified as slip-resistant according to DIN EN 16165:2021-12, classification R10, and is very low in emissions in accordance with EMICODE® EC1.

Surfaces sealed with 2K Resist are easy to maintain, durable, and highly versatile. “With 2K Resist, we’re providing professionals with a reliable solution for heavily used surfaces,” explains Dr Benjamin Pohl, Head of Product Development at LOBA. “This finish combines durability, safety, and a sophisticated appearance – ideal for demanding commercial environments.”

Easy Application – Versatile Use

2K Resist convinces with its excellent application properties: it levels well and its drying time offers sufficient working time for precise application. It can be easily and efficiently sanded between coats, achieving a full-bodied, even surface finish.

Using the LOBA Colour Mixer, 2K Resist is mixed with the hardener and applied as follows:

For sealing elastic floor coverings, existing care films must first be completely removed. A single application with the LOBA Deluxe 120 roller is sufficient for normally used areas, while zones exposed to heavier traffic benefit from two coats.

Mineral decorative screed floors are primed with LOBA StyleBase and, after drying, coated with two layers of 2K Resist using the roller method.

Wooden floors are first primed with LOBA EasyPrime or PrimaSeal. Once sufficiently dry, one coat is applied, followed by an intermediate sanding with LOBASAND HolePad or sanding mesh in grit P120 or finer. Finally, the second coat is rolled on.

After five days, the surface is fully cured and can be covered. With LOBA Cover 400, earlier covering is also possible.
