“Today we glimpse the future’s face: / A wooden roof has left no trace. / Instead, concrete and steel stand tall, / The architect’s first choice for all,” said employees of the contractor in their humorous speech at the roofing ceremony for LOBA’s new building. The center has already received DGNB pre-certification in gold for its sustainable construction. In the presence of Alfred Melka and Mario Probst, the Managing Directors of LOBA, as well as Dr. Martin Schäfer (Chairman of the Management Board of Wakol GmbH), Dr. Hubert Motzet, (CTO of the ARDEX Group and Managing Director of ARDEX Germany), Klaus Behrendt (Head of Corporate Engineering at ARDEX GmbH), representatives of the general contractor (Franz Traub GmbH & Co. KG), the architects (REM Assets AG / Hüper-Plan Planungsgesellschaft mbH) and LOBA employees, the roofing ceremony began with the crane raising the roofing tree. In their speeches, Alfred Melka and Mario Probst expressed their gratitude for the support of LOBA shareholders ARDEX and WAKOL, the LOBA employees and the great commitment of everyone involved in the construction.
LOBA, a worldwide operating medium-sized company known for its environmentally friendly, innovative finishes, oils, cleaning and care products for parquet and wood floors, also consistently focuses on sustainability in the design of the three-story building: The center is being built according to the strict requirements of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). “The focus is on efficient energy concepts and environmentally friendly materials in order to minimize the building’s ecological footprint,” emphasizes Alfred Melka.
LOBA takes a holistic approach to sustainability – in addition to ecological aspects, economic and socio-cultural aspects are also taken into account in the company. Therefore, in the new building, particular attention is paid to creating a forward-looking working environment that promotes collaboration and addresses the needs of employees. “The modern, open-plan office and laboratory areas with plenty of daylight, barrier-free access and integrated e-mobility solutions are designed to contribute to a productive and pleasant working environment that strengthens the location and offers our employees attractive prospects for the future,” explains Mario Probst. The economic sustainability factors are also met – by optimizing cleaning and maintenance costs and extending the service life of materials over the entire life cycle of the building.
The building will house the product development and application technology departments, as well as spacious production logistics storage facilities. With the planned completion in summer 2025, LOBA is strengthening its position as a reliable employer and committed business partner in the region. Both product development and production for international business activities are centralized at the Ditzingen site. The construction project underlines the company’s commitment to environmentally friendly solutions and regional cooperation for a sustainable development.
