- The surface must be professionally sanded. The floor must be dry and free of any old coatings, oil, grease, wax, silicone, sanding dust and other impurities.
- The optimal processing conditions are room temperature +15°C to + 25°C, floor temperature +15°C to +22°C, rel. humidity 40% - 65%, material temperature +18°C - + 25°C, max. wood moisture 12%, sufficiently ventilate working rooms.
- In order to prevent parquet damage, the room temperature should be set to the annual average expected for the use of the product.
- Stir the material well.
- The innate color of the wood used, its structure and its pore properties, as well as the fineness of the sanding pattern, also have a major impact on the color that can be achieved. We strongly recommend to produce a color sample on the original wood using site-appropriate sanding techniques to check the result by yourself and if necessary for approval by the project client.
- Follow LOBA instruction sheet "Sanding instruction: Staining of wooden floors".
- Before using the color variants, we recommend test applications to assess the achievable color tone and the overall visual effect. The color tones are intermixable. The transparent variant can be added to lighten or reduce the covering power. Pigment saturation is required for an even color, so dilution should be done with a maximum of three parts colorless to one part colored.
- If more than one container is needed for large surfaces, the total amount should be mixed in a work bowl before starting work.
- In the case of watered surfaces, subsequent resetting of the surface to its original state is not possible due to the deep penetration of the pigments into the wood.
- Follow TTT “Watering wood floors".
- Observe general and, if necessary, product-specific occupational health and safety regulations. Further information can be found in the GISCODE-related operating instructions which are available under www.wingis-online.de.
Thinner / Mixing
The product is ready for use and must not be reduced! To lighten the shade or to reduce the coverage, mix with the transparent variant. Max. 3 parts transparent to one part color.
Application tool / application rate
Lint free cotton cloth or microfiber applicator / approx. 45-60 ml/m²
Drying time
- Earliest possible overcoating for water-based finishes after 1 hour and for hard wax oils after 2 hours.
- If there are drying delays, wait until completely dry.
Instructions for use with microfibre applicator:
- Carefully sand the substrate, observe the LOBA data sheet “Sanding instructions: coloring parquet floors”.
- Apply a thin coat of LOBA Stain using the LOBA microfibre applicator, working in sections.
- Use a single-disk machine with a white LOBASAND NormalPad to even out any unevenness and remove any excess.
- Wait until completely dry.
- Apply LOBA water-based finishes, observing the technical data sheets for the finish. Intermediate sanding is required before the last coat.
- Alternatively, apply two coats of LOBA HardwaxOil using a roller.
-
Applying the rag-on-rag-off method:
- Sand the substrate thoroughly, observing the LOBA data sheet “Sanding instructions: colouring parquet floors”.
- Apply LOBA Stain in sections (2-3 m²) using a lint-free cloth.
- Immediately remove any excess with a second lint-free cloth.
- Wait until completely dry.
- Apply LOBA water-based finish; follow the technical data sheets for the finish. Intermediate sanding is required before the last coat.
- Alternatively, apply two coats of LOBA HardwaxOil by roller.
Tip:
When using brown and darker LOBA Stain colours, a more intense, richer colour can be achieved by using LOBA Amberizer.
Woods with a high tannin content (example: white oak) can affect the colour of Stain Strong White. To counteract this effect, the primer PrimaSeal can be used before finishing alternatively 2K InvisibleProtect.
LOBA coatings that have been approved for use as two-coat systems (2K InvisibleProtect, Speed) must be applied using the LOBA Deluxerolle 120 roller. If the application quantity in the first coat is too low, there is an increased risk of sanding off the colour during intermediate sanding.
