Product innovation: LOBA SlipResist

Slip resistance with 2K InvisibleProtect. K-Kampus, JKMM Architects, Helsinki

Stumbling, slipping, falling: In the first half of 2022, the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) recorded 79,228 commuting accidents and 393,729 occupational accidents*. Often, the causes of these accidents are of a technical nature and lie in the design of floors. One of the most important requirements for floor coverings is therefore slip resistance. Numerous water-based systems from LOBA, the pioneer in the development of slip-resistant sealers and oils for parquet and wood floors, now have certified slip resistance of rating group R9 in the matt variants.

This applies to 2K InvisibleProtect, 2K UltraElastic, 2K FactoryStyle, 2K Duo and 2K Fusion. Furthermore, the oils Akzent 100 Oil, 2K ImpactOil and Color variants, HardwaxOil EcoPlus as well as Markant and MarkantNature are also R9 or R10 certified. Floors in the R9 group are recommended, for example, for public entrance areas, work areas, company canteens, break and recreation rooms.

For areas of application with the R10 requirement, LOBA is now launching an additive that significantly strengthens the slip-resistant properties of various LOBA finishes: SlipResist. A slip-resistant surface of the R10 rating group meets the requirements for floors in, for example, workrooms in schools, salesrooms, and warehouses, and is also recommended for barrier-free rooms. By adding SlipResist to the final coating layer of LOBA finishes, a certified slip resistance of the R10 rating group can be achieved. And this without changing the properties of the coating. What else speaks in favor of using the new additive? It is water-based, solvent-free and provides the desired slip resistance according to DIN EN 16165 in the R10 rating group on floors made of wood, cork, linoleum and PVC. It is suitable for all matt and semi-matt sealer variants of EasyFinish, 2K Fusion and 2K Supra A.T. as well as 2K Duo and its extra matte variant.

LOBA SlipResist is very easy to apply. To do this, shake up the additive and coating. The additive is only added immediately before application and after incorporation of the hardener into the compound. Add one container of 100 g to 5 l/kg of coating. Shake or stir in thoroughly (can also be done mechanically with the LOBA paint mixer). To ensure certified slip resistance, the quantity of additive must be added exactly as specified. Parquet and floor installers who have already tried LOBA SlipResist are enthusiastic: about the simple and safe application, the simplified storage and the extended range of LOBA sealers for slip-resistant floors.

When used professionally and dosed precisely, cleaning and care products from LOBA guarantee consistent slip resistance. Suitable products include the highly concentrated pH-neutral cleaner LOBA Cleaner and the water-based dispersion care product FloorCare anti-slip. This is confirmed by regular tests conducted by external, independent institutes.
